Minute Details of Myself

In case you have not checked out our wedding website and are wondering about why “Nicdao.net” is mixed in with “SomeBunnysLove”, Nicdao is for my maiden name, and “Some Bunny’s Love” is in memory of my Standard Rex Rabbit, Nibbles. After looking forward to the day when I would replace my “difficult to figure out I was Filipino” name with Reynolds as my last name, I realized how distinct and distinguished it was. Granted, it was constantly butchered, but I am proud of its Filipino ancestry and what it shows about my own self and personality. Plus, my then-boyfriend present-husband bought this domain name for me a while back, so I really cannot see wasting his money for just an “email me for info” link for myself.

Now for the interesting hobby stuff. I can proudly say that I still have my 1st car, a 1970 Ford Mustang Fastback. My little red car is patiently waiting for me to find the time, money, and funds to fully work on it with my undivided attention. Recently my father asked me if I could send it back to Virginia Beach so he can play with it when he retires. I am not sure if I can do that. Shipping a classic vehicle like that one is not exactly cheap, and I would rather use the money for the car’s garage. That is just my humble opinion…

When in the mood, I love to cook and bake. Because of my tenacious and obsessive nature, I will read and research all my cookbooks for hours to find a recipe that fits whatever it is I am craving to make. For my friend Lisa‘s “Sex and the City” marathon night, I decided to make smaller versions of the Swedish Princess Cake that I started reading about on Not Martha and ended up on LovesCool‘s website. I admit to cheating on the marzipan, but everything else I proudly did by hand. Besides, with what projects I had to do for work and for last minute baby births, it was a miracle I was able to pull it off!

I am an avid sports fan, and can be easily glued to the television when a sporting event is on.

My Lola (Grandmother in Tagalog) Gertrude taught me to crochet as a little girl (I think at 5), but I then became bored with it just before my very early teens. Several years ago, I was actually paying folks to crochet baby blankets for me. When it happened that these same folks went on vacation and I needed a yellow baby blanket, Rich suggested that I visit the local yarn store a couple miles down the road. Little did we know how much yarn shops would be affecting our lives (and my wallet)!

Since January 1st of 2005, I have added knitting to my craft repertoire (I also know how to sew and was an avid cross-stitcher at one point). I figure that one day I may get picky enough to spin my own yarn and weave my own fabric. A vision still sticks in my head of the craft studio that a former beau’s mother has — she was a weaver with a huge sun-lit room plastered in golden sunny yellow and stocked with hordes of threads, yarns, and gorgeous textiles all around it. She also sewed, crocheted, knitted, embroidered, had dark purple hair, and was an emergency room nursing supervisor. Unfortunately, she and I hit it off very well since I used to work in the ER at a sister hospital. Reason for that last remark? When I was dating, it seemed that the guys whose parents approved of me would dump me or I would dump them. But that’s old news… Because of Sharon, years later, I still am inspired by her craft studio. :)

Oh, and did I mention that we have bunny rabbits in the house? =:8
