The Latest Letters from Rasha

For those who may not know, my friend Rasha decided to make a giant leap of faith and drop from the engineering world. I had met Rasha over two years ago when she took over my position on the engineering team I had left. Originally I was asked by my former manager Axel to help her out and offer her tips and tricks from what I learned during that two-year stint on the team. Little did I know how much I would learn from her frank insight and up-front consultations.

Meeting Rasha can be intimidating. Rasha’s family hails from Egypt. From what I remember correctly, she and her parents came to New York City when she was a child. Not knowing more details than that, I do know that her last home before coming in Rhode Island was in Austin, TX. At the time of her interview, she was using her maiden name. When she arrived to work on my former team, she had hurriedly married and her name was changed. I had to chuckle when she started working. You see, years before, I did the same when I was in the process of my contract ending at WR Grace in Cambridge, MA. The interview with Fleet was when I was engaged to my first husband; my first work day threw them off because I started working immediately after the honeymoon.

Anyway, I digress. This petite woman is exotic as she is smart. I do hope she is having as much fun as she is describing in her letters. Please feel free to offer comments on her adventure, and I will forward them to her! For now, I leave you my favorite photograph of her. Rasha had been teaching yoga and Helene had joined me as one of her students.
